In efforts to support healthy community development in coastal Talamanca, Eco Hostel has organized and assited in a variety of community projects. Tourism growth in the area has brought business to some locals, yet funding and recources are needed to develop community services, educational programs and appropriate infrastrucure. Please join us in a host of volunteer programs that benifit local cultures and help preserve talamanca’s biodiversitity. Some volunteer efforts to consider - Join the recycling team that operates recycling pick-up from Manzanillo to Cahuita. - Take part in local organic farming, agroforestry and crop diversification efforts. - Work with the iguanas at the Kekoldi Reserve or IguanaVerde farm. - Help local sea turtle and bird conservation efforts. - Join a trail crew, or volunteer at one of the local public or private schools. - Help record the history of the indigenous BriBri people, or teach the children English at the Yorkin Indigenous Community. - Work with the Dolphin Foundation in Manzanillo. - Assist the local community in their Grant writing. |
